The Indian Government launched it on 3rd August 2021. The main purpose of this system is to make sure government benefits reach the citizens without any leak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is an electronic voucher that will be provided to recipients in the form of a QR code and SMS-string-based voucher, allowing payments to be paid straight to their bank account. Anyone with a working phone (no internet connection necessary) can access the e-voucher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is E-Rupi sent?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Through their partner banks, any government agency or corporates can generate e-RUPI vouchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A beneficiary must present the merchant the QR code or SMS message, which the merchant will scan. Once scanned, they will&nbsp;send a verification code to the beneficiary&#8217;s phone number. The latter must share the received code with the merchant and complete the payment. It will act as a prepaid e-voucher (QR code or SMS string-based) for us to make payments hassle-free. With E-Rupi, we will not need a credit card, debit card or any other service to make such transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits of E-Rupi:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are few benefits that makes E-Rupi a fine Payment Option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>It simplifies our payment process by leaps and bounds \u2013 People without any bank account can easily make payment using E-voucher<\/li><li>There will no physical interference. It is leak proof!<\/li><li>Prepaid vouchers mean just Tap and Pay.<\/li><li>We will no longer need cards, net banking, mobile banking for etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is it different from digital currencies?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the implementation of e-RUPI is the first step toward India having a digital currency, it is more of a social service voucher system, ensuring that benefits are delivered to eligible recipients without any inconsistencies or delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This contrasts with cryptocurrencies, which allow you to purchase products and services as well as sell them for profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most notably, the government governs E-Rupi.
